Lenovo Leaves Aside Its Legion Gaming Smartphones

Gaming smartphones have grown in popularity in recent years as mobile gaming has become increasingly popular and more demanding games have required more powerful hardware. According to a report by Newzoo, the global mobile gaming market generated $77.2 billion in revenue in 2020, with 2.7 billion gamers worldwide. This represents a significant increase from just a few years ago.

However, not all companies are excited about investing too much in mobile gaming in the near future. One of them is now Lenovo, as the Chinese tech giant is leaving aside its Legion gaming smartphones.

The end of the road for gaming smartphones built by Lenovo?

Lenovo stated through one of its spokespeople, as Android Authority quotes:

Lenovo is discontinuing its Android-based Legion mobile gaming phones as part of a wider business transformation and gaming portfolio consolidation. As a leader in gaming devices and solutions, Lenovo is committed to advancing the gaming category across form factors, as well as focusing on where it can bring the most value to the global gaming community.

Lenovo Legion smartphones marked their debut back in 2020. The first line of such phones was pretty impressive, and perhaps the most interesting addition was represented by the displays featuring a refresh rate of 144Hz. Such a refresh rate assures that games run very smoothly.

Lenovo gaming smartphones, such as the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2, are generally considered to be powerful devices designed specifically for mobile gaming. They typically feature high-end specifications, such as the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, large amounts of RAM, and fast refresh rate displays, all of which contribute to a smooth and responsive gaming experience.

The Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2, for example, features a Snapdragon 888+ processor, up to 18GB of RAM, and a 144Hz refresh rate display, making it one of the most powerful gaming smartphones currently available.
