iPadOS 17: What iPads Will Lose Support?

As Apple’s huge WWDC event is getting closer, we get to learn more about it, especially the new software peak. And this is where concerns start to arise. When the company finally releases its next significant software upgrade this year, we should expect some iPads to be no longer compatible. What’s worse is that the most recent report confirms an earlier rumor and comes from a credible source. We’ve compiled a list of the iPads that are most likely to be discontinued along with the anticipated device compatibility with iPadOS 17. What iPad do you use? iPadOS 17 Couldn’t Be Available To:

• iPad 5th gen
• 9.7-inch iPad Pro 1st gen
• 12.9-inch iPad Pro 1st gen

iPads That Will Be Still Compatible With iPadOS 17:

• iPad Pro 2017 and later
• iPad mini 5th gen and later
• iPad 6th gen and later
• iPad Air 3rd gen and later

To recall, iPhoneSoft accurately predicted that Apple would discontinue support for the original iPhone SE and iPhone 6s with iOS 16 by the end of 2021. Also, the source came up with pretty much accurate information on iOS 13 and iOS 14 compatibility in advance. Of course, this doesn’t mean we can fully trust a source. After all, Apple didn’t release any details about the future of iOS 17 or iPadOS 17.

And here’s a thing we have to remember. Despite the fact that iPads manufactured in 2017 and even older versions should be compatible with iPadOS 17, you should know that older devices typically lack support for the newest features and other functionalities offered by the most recent software.
