iOS 17: Major Rumors About Upcoming iPhone Features

Users are eager for Apple to release iOS 17 despite the fact that the current version, iOS 16, has been out for many months and is constantly being updated. Although iOS 17 has not yet been officially announced, there have been hints about the operating system’s features and the iPhone models that should be eligible for the update.

• Updated version of the Messages app

Majin Bu, the leaker, claims that the Messages apps will be completely redesigned in the year 2023. The leaker claims that the iOS 17 will support augmented reality (AR) chat features and will include a new home screen, videos, chat rooms, and even AR chat features.

• Support for augmented and virtual reality headsets

Either with the fabled iGlass or the Reality Pro, Apple will enter the METAVERSE in 2023. Whether it’s a small step or a revolutionary leap, the device’s basic integration into the mobile operating system should happen soon. This has happened before with other Apple products like the AirPods, Apple Watch, and AirTags.

According to Mark Gurman once again, Apple is planning to reveal their initial headset  before launching the system formally at WWDC. The new iOS is often released in the autumn and the developer’s event is meant to get the ball rolling on app creation before the product ships close to the iPhone upgrade.

• Sideloading apps

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman claims that, like Android, sideloading applications will be an option with iOS 17. The proposed changes in the European Union (EU) appear to be the cause of this shift, which would require closed systems to open up their platforms to third-party app stores. Whether or not this modification, which is conceptually comparable to the USB-C specification, would be applicable outside the nations of the European Union is still up in the air. Nonetheless, notice of such a shift would be provided in advance, most likely at WWDC 2023.

• Updated CarPlay

Although Apple hinted to this new capability at WWDC 2022 (at around the 37:50 mark in the video below), its release seems to be contingent on other factors. The Cupertino firm claims its automotive interface will “take over” all existing dashboards, ushering in a new era of in-car entertainment. The new CarPlay is expected to debut at the end of 2023 on models from a wide range of brands, though its release has likely been delayed due to ongoing component shortages over the past few years.
