Huawei Unveiled A Slew Of Brand New Smartwatches

All four of Huawei’s new smartwatches were announced at an event in China earlier today, and we have the details. Huawei’s Watch Buds are a hybrid device that can function as a standard smartwatch or as a set of TWS earbuds by opening the device’s screen. The watch features a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466x466px. The stainless steel case is paired with a 22mm wide leather band that comes in black and brown.

In terms of smartwatch features, it is capable of measuring your heart rate, SpO2, sleeping patterns, stress levels, and detecting atrial fibrillation via ECG readings. You can choose from 80 unique exercise programs. Artificial intelligence-powered noise cancellation is included into the earbuds. Without the band, the Watch Buds weigh 66.5 grams, with the earbuds themselves weighing just 4 grams. The buds have an ingress protection rating of IP54, however the watch does not because of its opening mechanism. Positioning through BeiDou, GLONASS, and GPS are all available.

The Watch Buds are powered by HarmonyOS 3 and connect through Bluetooth 5.2. Huawei asserts that the battery life of the watch and the headphones, when used together, is three days. With noise cancellation turned off, the wireless earbuds can play music for 4 hours or make calls for 2.5 hours. The patented magnetic charger estimates a full charge will take 100 minutes. Huawei Watch Buds are $429 USD and retail for CNY 2,988 in China. As of yet, there has been no announcement regarding a worldwide release.

New from Huawei, the Kids Watch 5X and 5X Pro have 1.6-inch AMOLED displays with 360x320px resolutions and twin cameras in a rugged plastic body. Both watches can be turned through 360 degrees and detached from their bands, and they each feature a 5MP front camera and an 8MP rear module. The Pro version’s secondary monochrome screen is useful for power conservation and is less obtrusive than the primary display.
