Google’s Android Now Allows Users to Delete Part of Their Search History

You know that embarrassing moment when you can’t find an option to delete the search history. Perhaps we all know it. Everybody has the right to hide their activity online, even though they aren’t doing anything illegal.

Google’s Android hasn’t been very permissive when it comes to hiding your search history, and plenty of users have been complaining about that. And it’s understandable. You might not be willing to block your phone each time you leave it on the desk. Your life partner or roommate could sneak in and see what’s cooking. He or she might not be pleased about what they’ll see.

You can now delete the last 15 minutes of the search history of the Android app

According to The Verge, Google is making it possible for users to delete the last 15 minutes of the search history within Android. We’re already eager to see how this move of the tech giant will be perceived by the public. We expect that even non-Android users will consider switching to Google’s operating system for phones.

Surely the new functionality is already available for some users. But if you don’t see it running on your phone already, don’t panic! It will surely arrive in a few weeks. Here’s what Ned Adriance, a spokesperson of Google, declared for The Verge:

We’re currently rolling this feature out on the Google app for Android and expect it to be available to everyone using the app in the next few weeks,

We’re continuing to explore ways to bring this helpful feature to other surfaces.

The decision will also be welcomed because Android 13 is just around the corner. The new edition of Google’s operating system for mobile phones is expected to arrive in August 2022 as a stable release, and it promises plenty of interesting features.
