Google Authenticator has just got upgraded, and it works so smoothly! With the addition of sync features and the release of a new cool icon for Google Authenticator for both Android and iOS, Google is finally giving users what they deserve for their favorite 2FA (two-factor authentication) coding app. What’s best is that from now on, one-time codes will be “more durable by being safely stored in users’ Google Accounts.” Quite impressive, isn’t it?!
Google explained:
This change means users are better protected from lockout and that services can rely on users retaining access, increasing both convenience and security.
The new logo and sync update for Google Authenticator are still being rolled out on iOS (version 4.0) and Android (version 6.0). There will be a setup procedure following the installation of the new version. Check out below all the stuff the new update brings:
What’s really sleek is how the new icon has a cool asterisk made up of triangles in the four Google colors. It substitutes very well a vault-inspired ‘G’ for the previous icon’s circular shape. Although the app’s appearance has been modified, Android has not yet adopted Material 3.
What are your thoughts now about Google Authenticator’s update?
Google Authenticator was first released back in 2010, and it got only a few updates so far. One such feature that Google is introducing is the “ability to safely backup your one-time codes (aks OTPs or one-time passwords) to your Google Account.”
