Gmail Now Shows You Additional Details About Incoming Deliveries

A while back, Google said that it will be implementing a package tracking tool in Gmail, which would enable users to obtain more information on their deliveries at a glance and would be available to users worldwide. The functionality may be accessed inside the Gmail app for Android at this time. However, if you want access to it, you are going to have to explicitly activate it. On an iOS device, you will need to go to the Data Privacy area and ensure that Smart features are turned on before you can turn on the toggle for package tracking.

In the event that users are not acquainted with the package tracking capability, the update will enhance the Gmail experience by providing users with a glanceable summary of more information about arriving parcels. When you examine the emails in list format, a label in the form of a green checkmark will be appended to the email subject to indicate the delivery status. You may, of course, get into the email at any time if you need any further information on the shipment. When you do so, you will see a card at the very top of the email that has all of the essential information regarding the delivery. Although Google has not mentioned which shipping companies would be supported, the capability should be compatible with the most of the main shipping carriers.

You will need to go to the Settings menu of the Gmail app that you have installed on your Android device in order to activate this function. You should then be able to locate the option to activate Package tracking from there. Gmail will continue to display indications for compatible packages even after this setting has been enabled. There will be cues like “delivered today,” but in addition to that, Gmail will provide you updates when items are running late. The best part is that if there is a significant change to the current status of a package, the application will automatically move the email to the top of the inbox, allowing you to see the new status soon after it has been updated.
