A significant voice actor has been sacked from Genshin Impact following a serious sexual misconduct complaint.
Reports containing some extremely concerning accusations have surfaced in recent days against Elliot Gindi, the English voice actor who voiced the character of Tighnari.
Online, fans have discussed their personal experiences with Gindi and said the actor was acting inappropriately.
The parent business of Genshin Impact, HoYoverse, released a statement on the topic to declare that they had fired the actor as a result of a violation of his contract which was followed by comments from others in the voice acting community.
The following remark on the subject and a confirmation that Gindi would no longer be voicing Tighnari in further iterations of the game were shared by Genshin Impact’s official Twitter account.
“Dear Travelers, following communications with the recording agency, we confirm Elliot Gindi, the English actor for Tighnari, will no longer voice the character in following versions due to breach of contract,” the statement reads.
They continued by telling fans that they’re now in talks with the game’s voice recording company about recasting the character and rerecording some material.
“At present, we’re communicating with the voice recording agency regarding matters of recasting and rerecording. We’ll gradually replace Tighnari’s existing in game voice lines, and issue these updates in corresponding announcements. Thank you for your support, Travelers!”
Addressing the allegations against Gindi, a spokesperson for HoYoverse also stated earlier this week that “We deeply regret the harm and the damage that happened to our fans, community, and anybody affected. Both the internal teams and our external partners including our voice acting studio have been working on an urgent solution together. And we will keep you posted on the progress.”
Since these allegations surfaced, Genshin Impact fans and those involved in production have been voicing their concerns, and it appears that the parent company has moved quickly with their own investigations. They haven’t yet announced which actor will take over Tighnari’s role, but they’ll probably let fans know as soon as they can.
