Evolve Pokemon with the Thunder Stone: Pokemon Sword and Shield Edition

You might be surprised, but in Pokemon Sword and Shield, only a few Pokemon evolve with the Thunder Stone. The following guide will show you which are the Pokemon and where to catch them.

Thunder Stones are part of Pokemon Sword and Shield since the first-gen of games. At first, we couldn’t evolve more than 2 Pokemon with the stone.

Now, eight generations later, we’re glad the Thunder Stone can evolve up to five Pokemon!

Here is what you need to know.

Evolve Pikachu to Raichu

Pikachu is part of the first generation to make use of the Thunder Stone.

In Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pikachu can spawn in two areas. The first location is on Route 4. The Pokemon can spawn here more because it is not time-of-day or weather dependent.

The second area includes the Stony Wilderness, but with a few rules. Pikachu spawns only during thunderstorms or rainy weather.

Evolve Charjabug to Vikavolt

Evolving Charjabug to Vikavolt includes a three-stage process. First, you start with a Grubbin, then with Charjabug, and finally, Vikavolt, with a Thunder Stone.

Charjabug spawns in the Axew’s Eye area only during rain, while in the Dusty Bowl and Hammerlocke Hills during thunderstorms.

Remember that Grubbin pops up in any weather. So, you might find it easier to evolve Charjabug from a Grubbin.

Evovle Eevee to Jolteon

Eevee is one of the original Pokemon that can evolve into Jolteon using the Thunder Stone.

Eevee spawns at Route 4 in Pokemon Sword and Shield and is not weather dependent. You can find it randomly in the grass or overworld; just be patient!

Evovle Eelektrik to Eelektross

Eelektrik is a pure Electric-type Pokemon introduced back in the Black and White generation.

Unfortunately, Eelektrik and its evolution line are not achievable in Pokemon Sword and Shield. But there’s still something you can do.

Trainers with an Eelektrik in their Pokemon Home boxes must wait a bit for new games to use one of the items past the Ultra Moon and Ultra Sun titles.

Luckily, there is one less Thunder Stone needed to build the Pokedex.

Evolve Magneton to Magnezone

Magneton doesn’t spawn in the wild in Pokemon Sword and Shield, but Magnemite – starting evolution – can.

You can evolve Magnemite into Magneton at level 30. Remember that Magnemite spawns between level 10 and 15 at Challenge Beach and is not weather dependent.

Next, just use the Thunder Stone, and you’ll finally get the Magnezone!
