California Will Require COVID Vaccination or Testing for All State Employees and Health Care Workers

The daily number of infections due to COVID is rising in the US. Officials such as Anthony Fauci strongly recommend vaccination. Sceptics are also there, plenty of them.

Sceptics have their reasons to refuse to get vaccinated. We don’t judge them. We don’t approve them, either. If you’re one of them, you may find the COVID testing more reliable. Instead of vaccination, a simple test can tell you if you have the infection or not.

The Delta variant requires urgent measures

CNN announces that California will demand all health care workers and state employees to get vaccinated or regularly tested for COVID. People from these groups will obviously have to provide proof. The decision comes amid a surge of infections with the Delta variant, as Gov. Gavin Newson announced during a press conference.

Employees will have to prove they’ve been vaccinated by presenting their vaccination cards or by a verification code that shall be provided by the California Department of Public Health.

Newson declared, as quoted by CNN:

We are now dealing with a pandemic of the unvaccinated, and it’s going to take renewed efforts to protect Californians from the dangerous Delta variant,

As the state’s largest employer, we are leading by example and requiring all state and health care workers to show proof of vaccination or be tested regularly, and we are encouraging local governments and businesses to do the same. Vaccines are safe — they protect our family, those who truly can’t get vaccinated, our children and our economy. Vaccines are the way we end this pandemic.

The new policy will be implemented at the beginning of August.
