Apple’s New Pro Display XDR Monitor Allegedly in Development

Apple is creating several new external displays, including a 2019 update to its 32-inch Pro Display XDR, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. That’s quite impressive, considering all the Apple fans were somehow disappointed by the Studio Display.

The source speculates that the next displays would include built-in Apple Silicon chipsets like the Studio Display, which has a dedicated A13 Bionic CPU, even though few details are available. The M2 Mac Pro could also ship with the upgraded Pro Display XDR.

Here is what you need to know.

Apple’s New Powerful Monitors: First Details

The tech giant based in Cupertino has its way of releasing the best products. However, some of them need some upgrades.

Apple is creating “several new external displays,” including a 2019 update to its 32-inch Pro Display XDR, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Also, whether an updated Studio Display will be part of Apple’s lineup of new displays is unknown.

So, what should we expect?

As noted by MacRumors, display expert Ross Young tweeted back in October that the company was getting ready to introduce a monitor with a 27-inch mini-LED screen in the first quarter of 2023. That’s quite impressive, isn’t it?!

Of course, there are no direct hints from Apple regarding the development, but we can still rely on other sources.

According to the details Young provided, it appeared that Apple intended to replace the Studio Display with its ProMotion technology. So, what happened?

An M2 Refresh For Pro Models?

The long-rumored Mac Pro M2 revamp is also discussed by Gurman. He recently said the device would come with an optional “Extreme” version of the M2 chipset coupled with up to 48 cores and 256GB of RAM. Unfortunately, Apple allegedly abandoned those ideas after that, according to Gurman.

Two years after the introduction of its initial M1 chip, Apple was intended to have finished converting its entire computer portfolio to Apple Silicon. Gurman claims that the delay in the announcement of a new Mac Pro is due to a number of factors, including feature modifications and a change in Apple’s production plans.

If there are no further delays, the next model should be out sometime in 2023.
