There’s no wonder why Apple is one of the most successful companies on Earth: it was counting roughly 147,000 employees back in 2020. The company has been selling enormous amounts of iPhones across the world, and there’s no telling when its reign will end.
The Cupertino-based giant is preparing to demand a third dose of a COVID vaccine for its store and corporate workers, according to an internal mail that The Verge has written about. However, those employees who aren’t fans of the vaccines also have the option to take antigen tests.
Apple will begin imposing the new rule on February 15, when those working for the company will have to get vaccinated with a booster dose or take frequent COVID tests if they want to enter partner or retail stores, as well as Apple offices. Those who aren’t vaccinated even with two doses will have to provide negative COVID test results starting on January 24.
Apple stated, as quoted by The Verge:
Due to waning efficacy of the primary series of COVID-19 vaccines and the emergence of highly transmissible variants such as Omicron, a booster shot is now part of staying up to date with your COVID-19 vaccination to protect against severe disease.
According to data reported by worldometers.info, plenty of countries are seriously affected by the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID. Countries like the US, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and others have days when they’re reporting hundreds of thousands of infections.
It’s nothing new at all for tech companies to demand COVID vaccination proof from their workers. For instance, Meta also demands its employees to get “boosted” for the coronavirus.
It’s interesting to see how the entire situation will continue, as we’re expecting more huge tech companies to follow suit and demand vaccine boosters from their workers.
