Apple Watch 6 vs. Apple Watch SE – Which One Should You Get?

Apple introduced two new smartwatches last year – the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. They both run on WatchOS 7, but the more affordable model has fewer features and a somewhat older chipset, the S5 Apple chip.

They both have cellular and Wi-Fi-only versions and are widely available.

The Watch Series 6 has a starting price of $399, while the Watch SE costs $279.

Design-wise, the two are very comparable, as they have the same display and resolution. That means that you would get a similar viewing experience.

The two are water-resistant, so you can swim while wearing them, and are compatible with Apple’s two new bands – the Solo and Braided loops.

However, the Series 6 has considerably more design and colour choices.

On top of the standard silver, grey and gold aluminium colours, it is also available in blue and red.

It is available in steel and titanium variants, with numerous colour options in both materials.

One advantage to the Series 6 is that it has an always-on display, which first made an appearance on the Series 5.

With the always-on mode, the clock is constantly displayed, and you don’t have to raise your hand or tap the display to check out the notifications.

Another considerable advantage the Series 6 has over the SE is the blood oxygen level sensor. It is known as an oximeter, and it gathers relevant information about breathing and blood circulation in only 15 seconds.

That feature is particularly relevant for those affected by COVID-19, as blood oxygen levels are telltale signs of how severe the virus affects your body.

The choice is simple – it relies on whether you need the extra features of the Series 6 or not!
