Android 14 Beta Crashes Cameras of Pixel Phones – How to Fix the Issue

The latest Android 14 Beta 2.1 release has brought improvements but also caused a frustrating issue with the Google Camera app of some Pixel phones. Users have reported that trying to switch to A Pixel’s ultrawide lens causes the camera app to freeze and even crash. The problem has been noticed on Pixel 6 and 7 series phones that run the beta version, as Android Police reveals. The information has been acknowledged by Google already.

Luckily enough, there are workarounds available. It couldn’t have been otherwise, however, considering that Pixel phones have rapidly became among the most interesting smartphones out there. A tech behemoth such as Google cannot possibly let such an issue unresolved.

How to fix the camera crashes

Switching to portrait mode and then back to standard or quickly taking a photo with the primary lens upon opening the app can prevent crashes when you toggle between lenses on your Pixel phone. Alternatively, users also have the option to exit the beta and revert to the stable Android 13 version, but you’ve probably guessed that move as well. Of course, this latter action will also take the benefits of Android 14 away from you, which means that the best way to overcome the issue remains the trick regarding the portrait mode or the one that has to do with the primary lens.

Unveiled back in October last year, the Pixel 7 Pro device stands tall as one of the top-tier smartphones available today that Google has built. The phone’s remarkable features include a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED display, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. Equipped with the Google Tensor G2 chipset, this device delivers exceptional performance. With storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB and up to 12GB of RAM, you’ll have ample room for all your files and applications while using the Google Pixel 7 Pro. The phone showcases a triple rear camera system consisting of a 50MP main lens, a 48MP telephoto lens capable of 5x optical zoom, as well as a 12MP ultrawide lens.

We can also hope that Google will address the camera app issue as soon as possible.
