Android 13 Increases the Minimum System Requirements

Just like in the case of any other operating system out there, Android 13 also has some system requirements for those who want to install it. Not anybody who has a smartphone equipped with Google’s operating system in his pocket can benefit from the update.

Android 13 is the latest Android version, and it was released almost a month ago. While any other operating system of the Android series demands a maximum of 1GB of RAM from the user in order to achieve compatibility, Google is raising the stakes a bit when it comes to Android 13. And we find nothing wrong with it, as we’re living in 2022, the year when technology is at a whole new level compared to previous years.

Android 13 demands at least 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage

ArsTechnica reveals that Android 13 now works with a minimum of 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. This is an increase in the system requirements of the new Android version. That’s twice the amount of RAM compared to the system requirements of Android 12 and Android 11. Android 10, on the other hand, demanded only 512MB of RAM.

The new demand will probably not upset anybody, as using at least 3 or 4 gigs of RAM on the phone in 2022 is practically mandatory. If you need your portable gadget not to run very laggy while you navigate online, using anywhere below 3GB of RAM is out of the question.

Therefore, it’s obviously impossible to upgrade your software to Android 13 unless your phone runs on at least 2GB of RAM. And seriously, having just 1GB of RAM on your phone nowadays is just not acceptable if you want to do something more with it than just answering calls or playing a game like Snake for those “ancient” Nokia phones. Furthermore, anybody can afford more RAM memory nowadays.
