Android 13 Beta 4.1 Addresses Multiple Issues Of The Final Beta Version

Google released the final beta version of Android 13 to developers almost two weeks ago. The beta program has through its fourth complete iteration, which resulted in the addition of a number of new features and a great number of improvements behind the scenes. As has been the norm, Google is distributing a fresh update to the beta channel that contains bug fixes in order to eliminate some of the problems that are still present.

Beta 4.1 is a rather tiny update that, as its name implies, mostly focuses on fixing problems that arose during the main beta launch. Just below you can find the whole release notes for Beta 4.1:

  • Issues that might occasionally cause a device to freeze up and need a reboot while connecting to certain WiFi networks have been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue that prohibited an application from setting or disconnecting Bluetooth if the application did not have the BLUETOOTH CONNECT permission, even when the application was targeting an API level in which the permission was not needed.
  • They also took care of an issue in which the system could have interpreted GPS data erroneously.

The appropriately named Android 13 Beta 4.1 fixes a couple of problems, one of which is a fault that toggles Bluetooth on and off. The other problem is GPS data that is garbled. The annoying Wi-Fi bug, in which the device would crash and reset itself when trying to connect to particular networks, has also been fixed by the update. The new build (TPB4.220624.008) not only addresses the bugs that were previously highlighted, but it also upgrades the version of the Google Play services to 22.21.16 from 22.18.21. However, there has been no change to the security patch level, and as a result, the release date is still set for July 2022.

Although other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) may soon begin rolling out their own upgrades for their Android 13 beta programs, Beta 4.1 is now only available on Google Pixel devices. Those who are now using Beta 4 will, as is customary, get a little update over the air (OTA) over the next few hours. Additionally, the build may be downloaded manually and flashed on Pixel devices that are compatible with the process.
