2-Year Study Finds That Deaths In Children Are Extremely Rare

Real-world data from the United Kingdom has shown that Covid fatalities in children are exceedingly infrequent and are frequently linked to underlying medical problems or comorbidities.

All fatalities among Covid-positive children between March 2020 and December 2021 have not yet been peer-reviewed in this research. From March 2020 to December 2021, researchers analyzed data from the Active Prospective National Surveillance in England. The investigation found that Covid was to blame for the deaths of 81 people out of the total.

The research only considered fatalities that happened during the first 100 days following a positive report.

The findings of the study

Children and teenagers who died from COVID-19 were found to be older and have more underlying medical conditions than those who died from SARS-CoV-2 without the presence of the virus. They also died sooner than those who died from SARS-CoV-2 without the presence of the virus. They also noted that 51% of the fatalities happened within seven days of the SARS CoV infection being confirmed (41 out of 81), and 91% (74 out of 81) happened within 30 days. There were 27 persons with significant neurodisability and 12 people with immunocompromising diseases among the 61 COVID-19 fatalities, they reported.
