Legendary Street Fighter Characters are Coming to Fortnite

If you remember playing with Street Fighter characters on those old 8-bit consoles that many of us were in love with, it means that you’ll certainly love the subject of this article. The Verge brings the exciting news that Ryu and Chun-Li are coming to Fortnite.

Both street fighters mentioned above are becoming playable characters in Fortnite, and they’ll likely bring along their bags of tricks that cause a lot of pain to the opponents.

Ryu and Chun-Li join Fortnite starting February 20

If you’re already eager to play Fortnite with either of the two street fighters, you’ll be able to do so starting today, February 20, at 7 PM ET, after you purchase them from the in-game shop. Fortnite’s YouTube channel even released a presentation video of the new arrivals:

Round One: Street Fighter’s Ryu and Chun-Li Square Off in Fortnite. Coming Soon. 2/20 at 7PM ET.

Play Fortnite Battle Royale, the completely free 100-player PvP mode. One giant map, A Battle Bus, Last one standing wins. ESRB Rating: Teen with Violence.

It’s like the developers of Fortnite jumped all the way back in time with more than three decades just to bring back the legendary street fighters Ryu and Chun-Li. The first Street Fighter game was released in 1987 for arcade platforms, those huge machines the size of refrigerators that were usually placed in public businesses such as bars, restaurants, and amusement arcades. Later iterations of the Street Fighters series had massive success in the ’80s and ’90s for NES, SNES, and other platforms.

On the other hand, we can expect a lot of great things from Fortnite in the near future. The game counts over 350 million players, and there’s no wonder why for a free-to-play battle arena game.
